Dr Darren Pavey is an Interventional Endoscopist in Sydney and South West Sydney Local Health Districts and Conjoint Senior Lecturer at University of NSW.
Dr Pavey completed his Gastroenterology Training in Sydney in 2002 after which he undertook an Advanced Fellowship in ERCP, EUS and Interventional Endoscopy at Duke University in North Carolina, USA. He continued as a Faculty member at Duke until he returned to Sydney in 2008.
Dr Pavey has extensive experience in the endoscopic diagnosis, prevention and management of gastrointestinal cancers and is interested in clinical research for endoscopic management of GI malignancies. He was the first in Australia to be trained and qualified in Radiofrequency Ablation Therapy for Barrett’s Oesophagus using the Barrx therapies and continues to be a leader in the treatment of Barrett’s Oesophagus. Dr Pavey is Co-Chair, Gastroenterology Network, NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI), – Head of Endoscopy at Bankstown Hospital and runs the Barrett’s Program in South West Sydney Local Health District.
