Arthritis Awareness Week
Arthritis affects Australians of all ages and walks of life and according to Access Economics, 3.85million Australians suffer from arthritis, equating to 1 in 5 Australians (18%) and of this group 11% are in the work force.
There are many forms of arthritis; in fact there are more than 100 different types. The most common forms of arthritis include Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis and these account for more than 90% of arthritis cases in Australia.
Arthritis Awareness Week is this month, spanning the dates 23rd-29th March 2014. Arthritis Awareness Week aims to increase our knowledge of the ways in which we can help to avoid, alleviate and manage arthritis. In 2002 Arthritis was declared to be a National Health Priority and since then there has been increasing efforts to raise the profile of arthritis within both public and medical forums.
