International Womens Day 2017
On March 8th International Women’s Day will be celebrated around the world. This is a day that showcases the positive contribution of women in our society. The roles of women as dedicated workers as well as devoted wives has evolved over the decades as well as the growing belief that women should be afforded equal treatment.
IWD aims to create gender parity which brings women to an equal status, with males, in both economic participation and educational opportunity.
In many parts of the world women are still undervalued, mistreated and subjected to culturally endorsed acts of violence. IWD recognises the struggle many women face by raising awareness.
Speaking up about the mistreatment of women is a bold beginning. What else can you do?
Educate youth about positive relationships and self awareness
Donate to groups that fight abuse
Report violence if you see it
Economically, you can do your bit for IWD 2017 by buying from companies that support women in business or why not join a network that supports women in business if you are part of a growing group of women starting businesses from home?
More companies are actively employing women in more decisive, senior roles and mentoring a younger woman informally in the workplace builds confidence, skill and creates a support network for the future.
As a champion of positive change for women you can #BeBoldForChange and take action in the following ways:
Drive fairer recognition and credit for women’s contributions
Hail the success of women leaders
Applaude social, economic, cultural and political women role models
Celebrate women’s journeys and the barriers overcome
